Position Summary

The IT division at Answers in Genesis is actively seeking a Systems Engineer to oversee server, storage, and backup/recovery systems across the organization within the Infrastructure Team. This role involves the implementation and enhancement of server and systems connectivity, functionality, backups, and services. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical expertise, demonstrating initiative, resourcefulness, and a persistent approach to problem-solving and process enhancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and optimize server-level hardware and software, including HPE servers, VMware, Windows Servers, and Active Directory.
  • Design enterprise-level backup solutions utilizing tools such as Veeam and BackBlaze.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies along with testing protocols.
  • Manage and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure and cloud-based systems, including Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and team members to facilitate system expansions and improvements.
  • Prioritize and manage tasks effectively.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the technological environment, implementation processes, and design documents.
  • Engage in outsourced and co-sourced enterprise-level IT initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in storage/cloud/server systems technical support.
  • Proficient in configuring and administering VMware ESXi/VSphere.
  • Experience with Pure Storage or various SAN, NAS, NFS, and vSAN environments, including storage capacity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledgeable in setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux and Microsoft server operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking topologies, SAN switches, and CIFS/SMB configurations.
  • Familiarity with network systems such as firewalls, VLANs, and switches.
  • Experience with process-driven methodologies like ITIL or GTD is advantageous.
