Early Childhood Education Assistant

Position Type: Temporary
Required Education: High school diploma or GED; experience in early childhood preferred.
POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves both direct and indirect support and education for children. The individual will be responsible for implementing care and educational objectives as outlined in care plans. The position aims to foster a safe and nurturing environment for children.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with quality standards for early childhood programs.
- Develop and maintain an environment that meets ITERS/ECERS standards, achieving high ratings in designated classrooms.
- Assist in executing care plans by adhering to data collection procedures and documenting daily progress accurately.
- Provide constant supervision of children.
- Collaborate effectively with parents and staff to create a positive environment.
- Monitor child records to ensure authorized pickups.
- Engage actively with children during activities.
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and report any discrepancies.
- Complete required documentation and progress notes promptly.
- Collect developmental data on assigned children.
- Keep certifications in Infant/Toddler CPR, First Aid, and Infection Control current.
- Ensure accurate timesheet submissions reflecting hours worked.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions.
- Fulfill a minimum of 15 hours of professional development annually, with additional requirements for specific classrooms.
- Perform additional duties as needed, such as assisting with transportation and care during peak times.
- Engage in scheduled parent activities.
- Report any signs of abuse or neglect to a supervisor immediately.
- Follow the established chain of command for reporting issues.
- Adhere to organizational policies and licensing requirements.
- Comply with all relevant regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or GED is required; experience in early childhood education is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence. Capable of writing basic correspondence and effectively presenting information in small group settings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to address practical problems and interpret various types of instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to use hands, stand, walk, and reach. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are necessary for this role.
QUALITY ASSURANCE:
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and compliance procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of consumer progress.
- Ensure consumer records are kept up to date as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is typically moderate in noise level.
