Environmental Services Technician

As an Environmental Services Technician with CAMC Health System, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our hospital facilities. This position requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Disinfection: Dust mop and wet mop hard floor surfaces with disinfectant solution according to department floor maintenance procedures.
- Area Maintenance: Complete proper cleaning and disinfection procedures according to assignments and/or area.
- Patient Interaction: Interact with patients and patient environment while performing duties.
- Waste Removal: Remove waste following the proper Waste Handling and Waste Removal procedures and safety protocols.
- Quality Improvement: Engagement with the department goals for improvement of quality to include feedback and knowledge of current status of measured goals.
- Hard Floor Maintenance: Remove wax finish from hard floor surfaces, reapply wax finish to hard floor surfaces according to department floor maintenance procedures.
- Carpet Maintenance: Buff hard floor surfaces to maintain appearance, vacuum carpet using conventional vacuum cleaner or large industrial vacuum cleaner, buff carpet as required per predetermined schedules and areas not scheduled as requested.
- Specialized Cleaning: Extract carpet/furniture as required per predetermined schedule and areas not scheduled as requested.
- Supply Management: Have knowledge and skill to determine what supplies are needed and how to use requested cleaning supplies.
- Technology Integration: Use iPod applications for patient room discharge cleaning to report timely for patient flow system.
- Equipment Maintenance: Report equipment repairs needed and clean equipment after use upon return to the department.
- Meeting Room Setup: Set up meeting rooms per request of schedule.
- General Duties: Perform duties as required for Environmental Services Tech responsibilities, move furniture as requested.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Patient Group Knowledge: The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
- Common Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain and document all applicable required education, demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations, comply with the company's attendance policy, participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution, perform work in a cost-effective manner, perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations, perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization, follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable, perform related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
- No High School Diploma and/or No GED (Required)
- No Certification, Competency or License Required
This position is a Full Time Regular 1.0 position with an evenings work schedule.
