Job Summary

Strom Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Avionics Systems Specialist to join our team. As an Avionics Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for performing routine and special maintenance inspections to prevent failure of aircraft electrical and avionic systems and components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive maintenance inspections to identify potential issues and prevent system failures.
  • Fabricate and install wiring harnesses, avionic, and electrical systems to meet specifications.
  • Determine the necessary repair scheme and quantity and type of parts needed to accomplish proper repair.
  • Follow approved maintenance procedures for subject components or systems, consulting internal procedures, OEM technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Inspect completed work to identify any needed rework and perform rework to ensure that repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerances.
  • Perform serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment specified by the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Complete work package documentation by signing/stamping off after finishing all designated operations.
  • Install digital avionic equipment and interpret avionic/electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, wiring and cable integrity, coax cables and fittings, and connector assemblies.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies, using hand tools and soldering iron.
  • Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft, using hand tools, power tools, and soldering iron.
  • Interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
  • Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight test of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Test components or assemblies, using circuit tester, oscilloscope, and voltmeter.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rework, and modify worn or defective assemblies, components, or systems.

Requirements

  • 5 years actual and recent depot level aircraft avionics experience is required, with proficiency in interpretation of avionic/electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, cables, fittings, circuits, and connectors.
  • Prior experience in executive jet repair facility is desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all possible tasks and responsibilities within their Technical Area.
  • Troubleshooting, installation, repairing, equipment selection, equipment maintenance, knowledge of machines and tools, and knowledge of FAA requirements for aircraft maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend manufacturer and FAA approved work package instructions, and ability to inspect and install parts/components.

Education

  • High School/GED
  • Current A&P or an FAA Repairman Certificate (Avionics)
  • FCC License is desired
