Job Description:

Nursing Department Head Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive nursing programs and activities.
  • Establish, update, and enforce written nursing policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate nursing services and promote a seamless care experience.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to address any deficiencies or areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, and other documentation as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a quality assurance program to ensure high-quality care standards.
  • Assist in planning and implementing resident discharge procedures and plans.
  • Develop and implement a nursing services organizational structure.
  • Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Prepare and submit reports and recommendations to the Administrator on department operations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum associate degree; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing.
  • Minimum one year of successful nursing leadership experience in a long-term care facility or geriatric healthcare setting.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Genuine passion for and commitment to caring for the geriatric population.
