Job Summary:

The Mechanical Construction General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall management and leadership of mechanical construction operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This role involves strategic planning, operational oversight, team management, and client relationship development, with a focus on optimizing performance in areas such as HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Strategy:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the mechanical construction division, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for business growth, market expansion, and competitive positioning.
  • Operational Management:
  • Manage the overall performance of the mechanical division, including staffing, project execution, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the coordination of labor, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor project progress, adjust plans as needed, and resolve any on-site issues that arise during construction.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, superintendents, engineers, and other key staff within the mechanical construction team.
  • Ensure that team members have the resources and support necessary to perform their duties effectively.
  • Implement training and development programs to enhance the skills of the workforce and maintain high performance levels.
  • Financial Oversight & Budgeting:
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring that costs are managed efficiently, and profitability is maintained across all projects.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts, providing regular updates to the executive team on division performance.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards in project execution.
  • Client Relations & Business Development:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their expectations are met and exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead efforts in business development, identifying new opportunities and securing contracts for future projects.
  • Collaborate with the sales and estimating teams to develop competitive bids and proposals.
  • Quality Control & Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure that all mechanical systems and installations meet or exceed industry standards and client specifications.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in mechanical construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership or general management role.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale commercial or industrial mechanical projects.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build relationships with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing systems, and mechanical construction processes.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
  • Experience with project management software and other construction-related technologies.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, OSHA certification) are preferred.
