ASRC Federal Communications is in search of a Water Treatment Operations Technician to support our ISS2 contract for the Air Force. This role is stationed on Wake Island.

This is a rotational position where the selected candidate will work for three months on-site followed by one month off without pay. Wake Island is located 2,100 miles from HNL. While on duty, accommodations will be provided in a dormitory setting, and all meals will be supplied through the cafeteria. The candidate is responsible for their flight from their home base to HNL, while transportation to Wake Island will be arranged via government-sponsored aircraft. This position is part of a negotiated union agreement, with a starting hourly wage of $40.54.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain water treatment systems to ensure safe drinking water and industrial usage.
  • Manage reverse osmosis filtration processes.
  • Control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the inflow of raw water into the treatment facility.
  • Administer precise chemical injections, such as chlorine and potassium permanganate, for water disinfection and clarification.
  • Perform tank and filter bed cleaning through backwashing techniques.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance on machinery and equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Analyze water samples for chlorine levels, acidity, color, and impurities utilizing colorimeters, turbidimeters, and conductivity meters.
  • Document data including chemical residuals, turbidity levels, and water pressure.
  • Oversee sewage treatment and sludge processing operations within wastewater systems.
  • Manage inventory and requisition necessary supplies for effective water and wastewater operations.
  • Comprehend and adhere to federal, state, and contract-specific regulations regarding water and wastewater management.
  • Coordinate and organize the activities of water and wastewater personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate safety standards and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current State Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator in any of the fifty states.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in managing water and wastewater operations.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
