POSITION SUMMARY
As a Vocational Nursing Specialist, you will deliver direct patient care in a designated medical/surgical environment in accordance with established protocols. You will embody the principles of exceptional customer service, adhering to the core tenets of the AIDET program.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Execute delegated nursing tasks in alignment with the hospital and nursing department standards.
2. Provide organized nursing care to groups of patients, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
3. Implement patient care based on the nursing process, monitoring both behavioral and physiological conditions.
4. Exhibit patient-centered behaviors, demonstrating a commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of patients across various age groups and abilities.
5. Take responsibility for enhancing your own nursing knowledge and skills through continuous learning.
6. Engage in Quality Improvement initiatives and perform additional related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Graduation from an accredited Vocational Nursing program is required.
Certification:
Must be registered with the Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. CPR certification is mandatory; ACLS certification is preferred.

Physical Demands:
1. Frequent standing and walking for extended periods.
2. Ability to lift, position, push, and transfer patients.
3. Significant reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

Working Conditions:
1. Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
2. Interaction with patients in diverse circumstances.
3. Exposure to challenging situations including accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
4. Ability to manage emergency or crisis scenarios.
5. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including rotational shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

Morning staff are expected to arrive by 6:45 AM, while evening staff should report by 6:45 PM to ensure adequate chart review.
