Global Privacy Product Counsel

The Global Privacy Product Counsel will lead privacy analysis and assessments of TikTok's products throughout the development cycle to ensure compliance with local and global privacy and data protection laws.
This role will work closely with legal counsel, information security, and product teams to develop and implement global privacy standards, including those stemming from new and impending AI-related laws.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in an in-house legal department of a tech company or in a reputable law firm with substantial experience in tech, media, and telecommunications work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead privacy analysis and assessments of the Company's products throughout the development cycle to ensure compliance with local and global privacy and data protection laws;
- Assist in setting up or improving cross-functional Privacy Programs, with a special attention on company-wide efforts and governance related to machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI);
- Work with legal counsel, information security, and product teams to develop and implement global privacy standards, including those stemming from new and impending AI-related laws;
- Coordinate and drive cross-stakeholder alignment regarding implementation of privacy requirements and proposed remediations;
- Support data governance with respect to data acquisition, including all policies and matters related to the use of data to support AI;
- Proactively implement changes to product assessment process in anticipation of regulatory and business developments.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience working in an in-house legal department of a tech company or in a reputable law firm with substantial experience in tech, media, and telecommunications work;
- Enjoys being challenged, is adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment;
- Strong drafting, presentation, and communication skills;
- J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) with membership in good standing in a US state bar.
What We Offer:
- Base salary range for this position in the selected city is $303,240 annually;
- Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and location;
- Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units;
