Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Processor I to join our team at Redwood Credit Union. As a Mortgage Loan Processor I, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and organizing real estate loan documentation to ensure accurate and expeditious loan closing while providing exceptional Member service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, process, and close assigned loan files, including opening escrow, ordering appraisals, and reviewing automated and manual underwriting findings.
  • Review Desktop Underwriter verification messages and approval conditions on first lien loans, verifying the accuracy and integrity of all loan data entered into the system.
  • Request and manage the timely return of required documentation from Members, including third-party documents required for loan approval.
  • Analyze and review all documentation received, determining acceptability and verifying income and assets as required.
  • Upload documents into the electronic file cabinet and indicate when each condition is satisfied.
  • Review title prior to closing to ensure all exceptions have been cleared.
  • Setup loan files for submission to underwriting, including scanning and uploading all necessary documents.
  • Identify expired counteroffers and send out Statement of Credit Denial Letters as required.
  • Ensure loan files are complete prior to auditing function.
  • Ensure confidentiality and safeguard sensitive Member financial information.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of two years of experience in mortgage lending industry or closely related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact.
  • Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work.
