CNA Spine-Trauma Specialist

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in the Spine and Trauma unit at Mission Hospital. As a CNA, you will work under the supervision of licensed nurses to deliver exceptional care to patients undergoing elective spine surgeries and orthopedic procedures. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with mobility, obtaining and recording patient information, and engaging in evidence-based best practices to enhance the patient experience.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating, drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination.
- Change bed linens as needed and maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
- Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses.
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients.
- Assist with the use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs, and transfer patients to and from other units, departments, or entities.
- Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
- Current listing with Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred experience: 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting.
