About the Position

Eastern New Mexico University seeks a highly skilled and organized Compensation Analyst to oversee and supervise the organization's payroll functions, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payment of wages/salaries to employees. The successful candidate will report to the Director, Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of daily workflow and procedures related to payroll preparation and distribution, including management of inquiries and requests.

  • Processing payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

  • Collaboration with campus management on matters related to compensation, benefits, tax, and retirement programs, as well as position classifications and training and development.

  • Preparation and recommendation of payroll policies, procedures, and training programs aligned with the university's mission and goals.

  • Performance of other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of direct experience in bi-weekly payroll administration, annual W-2 statement processing, employee payroll taxes, and related federal and state reporting.

Estimated Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 annually

Work Environment

This role involves sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and is expected to meet deadlines within regular working hours, with some flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed.
