Position Overview
The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is in search of a dedicated Audiologist. The successful candidate will possess expertise in delivering thorough evaluations and treatment for patients with hearing impairments in a bustling outpatient environment. A strong commitment to enhancing patient experiences through empathetic care and teamwork is essential. Candidates should be enthusiastic about collaborating with surgical teams and mentoring in an academic atmosphere. Key qualities include exceptional interpersonal and organizational abilities, proficiency in managing a high patient volume, adaptability in clinical procedures to meet individual patient needs, and the capacity to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts and interprets audiological assessments and evaluations.
- Evaluates candidates for hearing aids, osseointegrated devices, and cochlear implants; facilitates fitting, programming, and rehabilitation to achieve optimal results.
- Provides counseling to individuals with hearing disorders, their families, and associated service providers regarding the nature of the disorder and its management.
- Compiles reports and integrates audiological findings with other diagnostic information, including educational, medical, social, and behavioral data.
- Maintains professional credentials by fulfilling all continuing education obligations.
- May be required to dispense hearing aids to patients.
- Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation.
- May conduct and interpret vestibular assessments.
- May perform electrophysiological evaluations and serve as a mentor to Audiology students.
- Oversees the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Doctoral degree in Audiology.
- No prior experience necessary.
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and Texas State Licensure as an Audiologist from the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR).
