Medical Laboratory Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Cook Hospital and Care Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the laboratory, performing testing and maintaining equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing in all areas of the laboratory, including specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and reporting.
  • Maintain records of patient test results and demonstrate proficiency in testing procedures.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
  • Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
  • Participate in competency testing programs, peer review, and laboratory quality assurance activities.
  • Develop effective working relationships with healthcare team members and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Requirements:
  • Certification by ASCP or NCA as a Medical Laboratory Technician, CPR, and Associate Degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
