Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Cook Hospital & Care Center.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory science and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for performing testing in all areas of the laboratory, maintaining equipment, and adhering to CLIA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing in all areas of the laboratory, including specimen handling and processing, test analyses, and reporting.
  • Maintain records of patient test results and quality control activities.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
  • Participate in competency testing, peer review, and laboratory quality assurance activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Participate in teaching students and demonstrating effective communication methods and skills.

Requirements:

  • Certification by ASCP or NCA as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Associate Degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
