Extension Educator, Community Economic Development/4H Youth Development Specialist

About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Extension Educator to lead our community economic development and 4-H youth development programs in a dynamic and growing region. As a key member of our team, you will provide educational programs to foster business growth, entrepreneurship, and community development.

Responsibilities
  • Work with state and local advisory committees to identify critically important issues and develop needs assessments.
  • Collaborate with other county educators, area, and state specialists to plan, deliver, and evaluate extension programming.
  • Ensure efforts are made to reach diverse audiences and provide equitable access to programs and facilities.
  • Recruit and develop volunteer leadership to help carry out the mission of the OSU Extension.
  • Develop relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders within the community.
  • Provide educational programs to foster business growth, entrepreneurship, and community development.
  • Connect resources to the community and provide support in writing grant applications and utilization of cost-share programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business, Community Development, Financial Management, Agriculture Economics, Urban/Rural Planning, Environmental Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in and out of office environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills, including building and adding to a positive team environment.
  • Knowledge and skill with computer technology in preparing and making reports, presentations, data analysis and retrieval, email, and internet applications.
  • Ability to work with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, teamwork, and group process skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business, Community Development, Financial Management, Agriculture Economics, Urban/Rural Planning, Environmental Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Success in planning, implementing, and evaluating learning experiences for youth and/or adults in community-based, non-formal education programs.
  • Previous experience in Cooperative Extension or closely related work.
