Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing all required testing.
  • Assist with front office duties, such as greeting patients, obtaining authorization, and communicating wait times.
  • Work closely with medical directors and clinical staff to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by the treating clinician.
  • Triage and disposition all patients.
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatment.
  • Dispense medications and appliances as ordered by the treating clinician and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Perform ancillary testing and tasks, including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing, and respirator fit testing, as ordered by treating clinicians.
  • Perform rapid screening tests, including influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.
  • Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
  • Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or the facility is not operating as expected.
  • Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures.
  • Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center.
  • Prepare for and assist clinicians with surgery setup and injury care.
  • Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as ordered by the treating clinician.
  • Manage patient flow and volume, keeping patients informed of expected wait times.
  • Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping, ensuring accuracy in documentation.
Requirements
  • DOT Certified.
  • X-Ray Tech experience.
  • Service Mentality, Attention to Detail, Sense of Urgency, Initiative, and Flexibility.
  • Ability to make decisions or solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, as well as the ability to deal with people in a manner that shows tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information, including HIPAA and PHI, in accordance with federal and state laws and company policies.
  • Willingness to participate in initial and ongoing training as required.
  • Effective communication and interaction with employers, patients, providers, and other employees.
  • Must successfully complete orientation and training and demonstrate competency in all medical tasks.
  • Obtain all certifications required of Medical Support Specialists, including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids Collection.
  • Strong computer skills and EMR knowledge.
Education
  • Master's degree and successful completion of an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant by the state of California.
  • Board certification.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
