Key Responsibilities:
  • Collects essential insurance and financial information from patients or their representatives, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the computer system within a strict timeframe.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility through various platforms and follows up on any discrepancies with the patient accounting department.
  • Distributes federally mandated brochures and information regarding patient rights and HIPAA compliance.
  • Facilitates bedside registration in the emergency department, ensuring all necessary equipment is functional and ready for use.
  • Applies identification bands to patients while adhering to infection control protocols and notifying clinical staff of any concerns.
  • Follows emergency protocols and updates relevant information as necessary.
  • Manages tokens for parking in the emergency department area.
  • Operates communication consoles and monitors safety systems, responding to calls in a professional manner.
  • Maintains an accurate duty roster and ensures effective communication at the start of each shift.
  • Handles co-pay collections and other financial transactions during non-business hours.
  • Records and secures patient valuables in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintains a log of deceased patients, ensuring all relevant information is documented and potential issues are escalated to senior staff.
  • Regularly reviews personnel folders to correct any registration inaccuracies.
  • Identifies opportunities for personal development and seeks guidance in unfamiliar situations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in insurance verification or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Individuals in this role may encounter potentially infectious materials and are expected to follow universal precautions and safety protocols.
  • Strong communication skills, including conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities, are essential.
