The City of Enterprise, AL is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Firefighter to join our team. As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing medical care, and performing various duties to ensure the safety of our community.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to emergency calls and use firefighting skills to evaluate and carry out actions to control the emergency situation.
- Provide patient care to citizens in emergency and non-emergency situations, including determining the nature and extent of illness/injury and establishing priority for required care.
- Complete accurate and detailed patient care reports in all required formats and databases.
- Provide pre-arrival verbal reports, arrival face-to-face reports, and written accounts of patient assessment, treatment, and changes to receiving staff/facility.
- Perform firefighting and life rescue duties, including responding to various emergencies, conducting fire suppression functions, administering first aid and emergency medical treatment, and operating equipment.
- Participate in training programs, including attending classes, participating in drills, simulations, and studying City geography.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs of fire station, grounds, and equipment, and conduct safety checks and inspections on various pieces of equipment.
- Participate in fire safety and prevention programs, including making presentations, teaching classes, and conducting station tours.
- Inspect and service fire hydrants, check and record water pressure, and inspect and maintain personal protective equipment.
- Prepare reports regarding incidents, complete forms, and enter run information into computer systems.
- Assist in searching for evidence for investigative staff after fire incidents and perform salvage and overhaul operations.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Applicant must meet requirements set forth by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain and maintain state EMT-B certification (within one year).
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Certification as an Alabama Fire Fighter is preferred.
- Possession of an active Alabama Department of Public Health Paramedic license and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians paramedic certificate.
- A completed employment application.
- Possession of a valid operator driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- In an emergency and/or standby situation, an employee in this position must be able to report to the designated location within a maximum of 60 minutes from the time of notification.
- Employees are required to submit to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with the City of Enterprise policy.
- Must meet the City of Enterprise's employment physical standard.
- An applicant for this position is subject to various background investigations.
