Logistics Team Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Team Supervisor is tasked with overseeing all personnel within the shipping department. This role involves directing and managing all shipping operations, ensuring efficient runs and deliveries, and providing training and cross-training for team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure quality, efficiency, and production targets are met as set by management, and communicate these expectations to your team.
  • Keep upper management updated on any issues or situations that may impact departmental performance.
  • Foster a positive work environment by demonstrating fairness, consistency, and concern for employee well-being.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Manage daily production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements, recommending optimizations to achieve cost, quality, and service objectives.
  • Proficiently utilize shipping technology systems, including Amtech and Outlook.
  • Achieve goals related to trailer utilization and efficient shipping practices.
  • Document and report any maintenance or repair needs within the department.
  • Coordinate with supervisory staff to prevent issues during shift transitions.
  • Adapt to flexible scheduling to cover for absences as needed.
  • Demonstrate self-sufficiency in problem-solving and lead the team to meet daily objectives.
  • Set and uphold safety standards within the department.
  • Implement corrective action procedures when necessary and communicate with management regarding any issues.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as required.

SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position includes supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in the corrugated industry is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics operations.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Regularly required to sit and use hands for tasks.
  • Frequent communication is necessary, requiring talking and hearing.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms is required.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
