Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Tempe School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct and indirect services to affect positive change in the communication behavior of pupils with speech and/or language impairment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct speech and language evaluations of referred students, interpret results to parents and teachers, and write appropriate recommendations and reports.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students eligible for special education.
  • Participate in school meetings and conferences regarding students with special needs.
  • Provide consultation to classroom teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Register with Medicaid as a provider and maintain Medicaid records.
  • Participate as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET).
  • Act as case manager for designated special education students.
  • Participate in and lead professional development in-services.
  • Review and maintain speech language files and related paperwork.
  • Attend monthly speech language meetings.
  • Validate outside diagnostic evaluations and program recommendations.
  • Plan, conduct, and/or participate in in-service activities in the area of speech and language therapy.

Requirements:

  • Arizona Department of Education Speech Language Pathologist certification
  • Master Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CFY)
  • Arizona Department of Health Services State Speech Language Pathology License
  • Ability to assess needs, develop and implement the IEP, and evaluate outcomes in specialty
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned
