Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Daytime Assistant Custodian to join our team at Kansas Employer. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our school premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness of buildings and premises, including classrooms, corridors, and restrooms.
  • Assist the head custodian in performing duties, including monitoring building temperature, clearing snow, and performing minor building repairs.
  • Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations, including health and safety policies.
  • Perform yard-keeping chores, such as grass cutting, trimming shrubs, and maintaining school grounds.
  • Keep floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  • Clean whiteboards, perform minor building repairs, and report needed maintenance repairs to the head custodian.
  • Remain on school premises during duty hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized.
  • Assume responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day and for determining that all doors and windows are locked and lights (other than for security) are turned off.
  • Keep enough chemicals and supplies on hand to perform daily duties.
  • Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance.
  • Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid Kansas driver's license, preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk on level surfaces, as well as climb up and down stairs for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to manually move, lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects or materials.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and reach.
  • Ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Ability to work in and around chemical odors.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of personal hygiene and sanitation.
  • Ability to follow district guidelines regarding dress code.
  • Ability to work with cleaning chemicals, solvents, and disinfectants.
  • Full range of motion with neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, back, torso, knees, and ankles.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds repeatedly.
  • Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
