Position Overview

This role involves providing essential support to the Recreation Program Manager for both youth and adult sports initiatives. The primary responsibility includes overseeing league games, tournaments, special events, and skills clinics on-site.

This recruitment is ongoing for various youth sports, specifically soccer, baseball/softball, and basketball. Currently, we are focusing on soccer and baseball/softball.
  • Soccer: The season runs from March 18 to May 13, with hours typically scheduled Monday to Thursday from 4:30 PM to 6:15 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Baseball/Softball: The season is from June 3 to July 29, with hours generally scheduled Monday to Friday from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Basketball: The season spans from November 1 to February 1, with hours usually scheduled Monday to Thursday from 5:15 PM to 8:15 PM and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 2:15 PM.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide on-site supervision of volunteer coaches and spectators, addressing any issues or conflicts that may arise during programs. Ensure adherence to program and facility rules, regulations, and procedures.
  2. Engage positively with program participants, coaches, and spectators to foster a welcoming environment.
  3. Verify that facilities are safe and prepared for use.
  4. Assist with the preparation of fields and facilities, as well as routine maintenance of parks as required.
  5. Ensure facilities are left secure and clean, and report any security or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  6. Train and mentor Sports Officials on the proper application of rules, positioning, and officiating techniques.
  7. Assign Sports Officials on-site, utilizing sound judgment regarding their capabilities and the skill levels of participants.
  8. Officiate program activities as necessary.
  9. Support the organization of informational meetings for volunteer coaches and staff.
  10. Assist in monitoring the inventory of sports equipment.
  11. Perform duties in compliance with federal, state, and local employment and safety regulations.
Qualifications

A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. A typical qualification includes a high school diploma or equivalent, participation in athletics at the high school or college level, and/or experience as a certified sports official. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Additional Information

This position involves assisting in the supervision of Sports Officials and operates under the direct supervision of the Recreation Program Manager for Youth and Adult Sports.
