Job Summary:The Youth Treatment Specialist will work closely with our team to provide a safe and supportive environment for youth to develop essential life skills, manage their emotions, and achieve their goals. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people and be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about delivering exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support and guidance to youth in our residential care center, helping them to develop essential life skills and manage their emotions.
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each youth.
- Implement evidence-based best practices, including the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM), to support the mental health and well-being of our youth.
- Use motivation and engagement strategies to encourage youth to participate in treatment programming and activities.
- Co-facilitate Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups and other group topics to support healthy relationships, independent living skills, and cultural identity development.
- Organize and participate in scheduled activities for youth, including on-site and off-site programming, to promote socialization, education, and personal growth.
- Support youth's education by serving as a learning coach in the classroom and at school, using an interactive and competency-based educational model.
- Provide active sight and sound supervision to youth and families with complex needs, assessing risk to self and others, and communicating with supervisory and clinical staff as needed.
- Perform milieu management and coaching with youth experiencing emotional dysregulation and/or crisis, using trained and approved methods and techniques to maintain safety in the environment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be at least 21 years old (at least 2 years older than the oldest resident).
- Working knowledge of positive child/youth development, patience, and understanding of difficult life situations.
- Ability to interact with youth and/or parents in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, respond appropriately in crisis situations, and perform basic computer functions.
- Ability to use time efficiently and effectively, multi-task, and display cultural competence.
- Valid driver's license, automobile, and insurance sufficient to meet agency requirements (preferred).
This is a full-time or part-time position with a flexible schedule, including a rotation of first and second shifts, weekend coverage, and holiday rotation. The position requires the ability to provide coverage as needed and serve youth who have experienced trauma and express their needs through behaviors.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a State-Licensed Residential Care Center, with local travel as required to fulfill essential functions of the position.
The position requires the ability to lift 30 pounds and use trained physical interventions if there is immediate physical harm posed to youth or staff.
