Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our team at our plasma collection center in Mount Pleasant, WI. As a Medical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, and reviewing laboratory test results. You will work under the direct supervision of the Center Manager and under the supervision of the Center Physician for medical issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
  • Evaluate and manage donor reaction(s) that occur at the facility, following applicable SOPs.
  • Manage donor deferral, reviewing test results and notifying donors of unsuitable test results per applicable SOPs.
  • Initiate and investigate Post Donation Information (PDI).
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, problem-solving, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues.
  • Demonstrate continued competency in the performance of job responsibilities and complete periodic assessment with the Center Physician per applicable SOPs.
  • Assist the EHS program as required per SOPs or as requested by the EHS Manager.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized educational program.
  • Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
