Job Summary

As an Avionics or Electrical Systems Specialist at AAR, you will be responsible for the modification, upgrade, and testing of aircraft sub-systems to ensure airworthiness. This role requires a strong understanding of avionic and electrical systems, including radar, radio, navigation, and power systems.

Key Responsibilities

* Modifies, upgrades, inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs aircraft avionic and electrical systems, such as aircraft installed radar, radio, navigation, and power systems using hand tools and test equipment
* Inspects components of avionic and electrical systems and equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation
* Tests avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers
* Adjusts, repairs, and/or replaces defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents
* Calibrates installed, modified, or repaired systems and/or equipment to prescribed specifications
* Operates ground servicing equipment to operationally test, inspect, and verify functionality and air worthiness of avionic and other electrical systems
* Assists in fabricating wiring harnesses
* Accurately documents all required U.S. Government and program forms and documents, including electronic records

Requirements

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required
* Must meet one of the following requirements: A Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance, An Associate's degree plus 4 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance, High School Diploma plus 8 years of related experience in avionics or electro-environmental maintenance
* F-16 experience is strongly preferred, but other fighter jet experience may be considered
* 5th generation aircraft experience is a plus
* Microsoft Office Suite skills are preferred

Physical Requirements

* Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing greater than 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms
* Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
