Assistant Professor, Department of History
Job Summary:The History Department at Wake Forest University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in African-American history, beginning July 2025. We welcome applicants who value and pursue rigor and innovation in research and who demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching that facilitates learning and engagement across the broad range of students Wake Forest University attracts.
Responsibilities:- Teach introductory-level survey courses, a two-semester survey of African-American history, and upper-level history courses in the candidate's area of specialization.
- Conduct research and publish scholarly work in the field of African-American history.
- Participate in departmental service and contribute to the development of the History Department's curriculum and programs.
- PhD in History or a related field by July 1, 2025.
- Strong research and teaching abilities, with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to teach a range of courses, including introductory-level survey courses and upper-level courses in the candidate's area of specialization.
