Position Summary: This role is crucial in assisting management with the monthly financial close, financial reporting, forecasting, and the annual budgeting process. The Financial Accountant will provide specialized accounting and project support through various essential functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monthly Financial Closing: Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile assigned accounts, and assist in reviewing general ledger activities. Analyze variances and produce accurate financial statements.
  2. Fixed Assets Management: Oversee the accounting and reporting for fixed assets, ensuring proper capitalization of project costs in line with accounting standards. Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation. Generate fixed asset reports and analyses for management review.
  3. Lease Management: Maintain and update lease accounting records in accordance with relevant accounting standards. Track lease agreements, payments, and related financial obligations, ensuring accurate recording of lease assets and liabilities.
  4. Grants and Program Oversight: Manage the financial administration of grants and programs, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance. Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and prepare timely financial reports for grantors.
  5. General Accounting Activities: Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies. Participate in the annual budgeting process and monthly financial forecasting. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  6. Financial Information Generation: Produce and interpret financial information for practical use by management, identifying potential issues and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders to resolve them.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Duties: Assist in resolving issues related to accounting and lease software and perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field, along with two years of relevant experience in finance, budgeting, or accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: No specific certifications or licenses are required for this position.
