Job Summary

The Registrar is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for the business aspect of the department and patient-focused care delivery. Key activities include registration, insurance verification, updating financial and demographic information, and reception duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet and direct patients, visitors, and staff with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Answer telephones promptly and courteously, directing calls to appropriate personnel and departments.
  • Collect and distribute patient referral information from affiliated physicians.
  • Escort visitors and patients to appropriate areas, providing information to assist them.
  • Embody a culture of diversity and inclusion, promoting an environment that values and respects individual backgrounds and experiences.
  • Distribute departmental reading materials, ensuring they are readily available.
  • Register patients by updating or entering demographic, financial, and emergency contact information into the computer system.
  • Verify demographic information and insurance coverage through patient interviews.
  • Generate patient charts and attach pertinent information, such as emergency cards and Medicaid thresholds.
  • Review discharged patient charts for diagnosis, physician signature, and dictation code.
  • Process specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper labeling and identification.
  • File charts and retrieve old records.
  • Enter data into required computerized systems.
  • Maintain patient recall files.
  • Ensure all papers and forms are stamped appropriately.
  • Log patients onto registration sheets and reconcile log books.
  • Obtain signatures for consent.
  • Make clinic appointments.
Shared Duties and Responsibilities Across Department
  • Greet visitors and answer telephones promptly and courteously.
  • Escort visitors to appropriate areas, when necessary.
  • Provide information and make referrals when appropriate.
  • Answer call systems and refer to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment.
  • Transport patients on stretchers or wheelchairs, as required.
  • Assist in interpreting, as required by current protocols.
Requirements

We seek a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual with 6-9 months of healthcare experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a high school level of knowledge, and basic computer skills. Ability to set priorities, problem-solve, and use proper judgment in difficult situations is essential.

Sufficient oral and writing skills in the English language are required to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
