Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Field Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently arrange travel logistics upon receiving assignments.
- Utilize personal protective equipment while on-site.
- Adhere to all ABB and client EHS policies and procedures.
- Promptly report any EHS violations to the ABB representative at the project location.
- Complete all mandatory training prior to commencing work.
- Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Ensure all Statement of Work (SOW) milestones and deliverables are met within the specified timelines and contractual obligations.
- Address any issues with Supplier's personnel performing services under this SOW in a timely manner to uphold service quality.
- Continuously evaluate processes for enhancements in productivity and cost efficiency.
- Prohibit any employee from being dispatched to or completing work related to U.S. Government job sites or end users.
- Install, maintain, repair, and commission equipment utilized in power delivery, support outages, control systems, and power quality systems.
- Document assigned tasks and compile reports upon job completion.
- Develop strong working relationships with team members and follow guidance from Field Engineers, Lead Field Engineers, and Senior Management.
- Foster excellent client relationships to establish a robust referral business.
- Utilize job-related software effectively.
- Act as the primary on-site representative for ABB with the end customer and other ABB field personnel.
- Occasionally assume additional team leader responsibilities to coordinate internal field service activities.
- Serve as the Project Manager for all assigned ABB product lines, assisting customers with technical understanding of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various ABB products.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance actions to identify training needs.
- Assist customers in enhancing reliability and minimizing ownership costs.
- Provide a single point of contact for customers, their teams, and all ABB stakeholders.
- Support the factory with data collection and timely reporting to facilitate fleet performance analysis, including marketing intelligence and service sales opportunities.
- Assist customers with spare parts ordering, issue resolution, and provisioning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs related to EHS, Quality, Integrity, etc.
- Execute responsibilities in Power Delivery, Drive Systems, Control Systems, and more.
- Willingness to travel approximately 60% of the time, primarily within the regional areas.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in power systems design, startup, and commissioning is preferred.
- Experience with various electrical controls and systems, including Mid-Voltage and Low-Voltage Switchgear, Power Panels, Generators, Transformers, and more.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Proven skills in analytical thinking and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, repair, and testing of assigned programs and hardware.
- Able to deliver formal presentations to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with all levels of maintenance, engineering, and management.
- Project management or supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Ability to lead and influence both customers and peers effectively.
- Knowledgeable in the National Electrical Code (NEC), Safety Codes, and Quality Assurance standards.
- Specialized training in Industrial Controls (PLC's, HMI's, etc.) is beneficial.
- Electrical licensing is preferred (Journeyman, Master's License, or Qualifier for state). Willingness to obtain necessary licenses is required.
- Candidates must possess valid work authorization for ABB in the U.S.
