Lead a Renowned Department in Biomedical Research and Education

The American University of Beirut (AUB) Faculty of Medicine seeks a visionary leader to serve as Chairperson of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics. This department is dedicated to advancing knowledge in diverse scientific fields, including biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology, with a particular focus on human diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, neurological conditions, inflammation, fibrotic disorders, inherited diseases, and bioinformatic analyses of complex diseases.

A Hub for Research Excellence

The Department boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, core facilities, and advanced equipment housed within the Department itself, the Pillar Genomics Institute (PGI), various Centers of Excellence, and the Diana Tamari Sabbagh (DTS) Building. These resources foster a dynamic environment for both basic and translational research.

Educational Impact at Multiple Levels

The Department offers a Master of Science (MS) program in Biochemistry (incorporating molecular genetics courses) and contributes to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in Biomedical Engineering and Biomedical Sciences through specialized disciplines in Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, and Cell Biology of Cancer. Faculty members actively engage in teaching medical students within the MD program, as well as graduate and undergraduate students from various AUB Faculties and Schools.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a terminal degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and have achieved a recognized academic rank, preferably as Associate Professor or Professor.
