Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at START, a specialized talent acquisition recruiting team providing 24/7 staffing services to the Metro Detroit Area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing Operations
    • Support the production operations of the plant by adapting and promoting Lean Manufacturing principles.
    • Participate in the Elimination of Waste Team meetings to drive efficiency and productivity.
    • Contribute to the Company's Goals and Objectives by operating machinery in various CNC machining centers.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Set machine controls according to program and install fixtures to ensure smooth production.
    • Repair and troubleshoot machines in their cell area to minimize downtime.
    • Understand, know, and apply knowledge to all machines, machine processes, and their functions in their work area.
  • Quality Control and Assurance
    • Perform preliminary checks on first pieces and adjust tools to maintain proper dimensions and part quality.
    • Responsible for fully completing and updating all paperwork on a daily basis, including production reports, PPLH, TAKT, scrap reports, and housekeeping check sheets.
    • Ensure the quality of all production parts produced at their station.
    • Perform quality checks on production as specified by Quality Control.
  • Housekeeping and Safety
    • Keep work areas and equipment clean and safe to prevent accidents.
    • Report any quality defects to the Team Leader, General Production Supervisor, or Production Supervisor.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Sustain the fast-paced demands of an automotive production environment.
    • Serve as a waste water handler commensurate with completion of proper training.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
    Requirements
    • Education and Experience
      • High school diploma or GED.
      • Pursuit of college coursework or education in skilled trades preferred.
    • Skills and Knowledge
      • Working knowledge of CNC machining, including troubleshooting and adjusting robot positions using the teach pendant.
      • Usage of a computer and other workplace machinery, such as SAP hand-held scanners, calculators, printers, and calipers (micrometers).
      • Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria.
