Job Description

 

Semikron-Danfoss is looking for a Machinist to join us at our Utica, New York location in the US. As a Machinist, your role is to sustain production tools, provide consistent tool performance, while partnering with Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, and Production.

Job Responsibilities
  • Efficient use of time and project management skills.
  • Operate a 3-axis CNC machine, lathe, drill press, grinders, and various hand tools.
  • Run CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements.
  • Participate in brainstorming / problem solving with Engineering & Production personnel to solve related problems.
  • Use blueprints and engineering drawings to produce parts.
  • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Trouble Shoot minor and complex tool fabrication issues to resolution.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineer’s and production staff to improve overall quality metrics for the fab, Scrap and rework reduction, and overall cost reduction.
  • Present technical data and project updates to peers and management in both casual and formal environment. 
  • Travel occasionally to various manufacturing sites and vendor sites to learn and share knowledge
  • Exhibit strong communication skills with equipment engineers to ensure crisp execution on projects with high efficiency and quality including line down situations and repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills: 

  • Previous CNC programming experience preferred.
  • Understanding of material properties, characteristics, and machining theory
  • Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gage, and comparator stand/gage
  • Ability to do trigonometry and geometrical math computations.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Machinist role
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing and preventative maintenance
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with Solid works, Master Cam, AutoCAD, Inventor
  • Strong computer skills
  • Detail oriented
Compensation Data

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $30.00+ per hour. Base salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
