Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

The American Bar Association (ABA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead its financial activities, develop forecasts, and maintain positive working relationships with key external constituencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the financial activities of the ABA, including budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Develop and implement financial plans to increase revenue and improve financial performance.
  • Lead and manage all financial and accounting functions, including long-range financial planning, auditing, tax reporting, and cash management.
  • Provide financial updates and recommendations to the Finance Committee, the Board of Governors, and other relevant committees.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least ten years' experience leading teams in finance, accounting, financial planning, and treasury management.
  • Recognized as a certified finance professional, such as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategies and business plans that grow revenue through products and services sales.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully building, managing, and developing diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous finance experience in a not-for-profit organization or membership association environment.
  • Previous financial reporting experience.
