Job Summary

The Infection Preventionist RN is a key member of the patient care team, responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust infection prevention and control program at an individual entity level. This role is essential in supporting a robust Quality and Safety program, ensuring continuous regulatory readiness, and promoting a culture of zero harm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient reviews and analyze clinical care to identify opportunities for improvement in infection prevention and control.
  • Develop, deliver, and monitor educational programs related to infection prevention and control methods, ensuring employees have the necessary tools and skills to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership, nursing, medical staff, and other stakeholders to implement processes and key initiatives that support strategic patient safety goals.
  • Identify and report communicable diseases, including extremely drug-resistant organisms, to local and state health departments as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct investigations of emergent or unusual clusters and pathogens, consulting with state and local health departments, the Ministry Director of Infection Prevention and Control, and entity leadership.
  • Participate in the development, review, and management of Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures, as well as the annual Infection Prevention and Control Plan.
Requirements
  • RN licensure in the current state
  • Infection Control certification within 3 years
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • 2 years of experience in Infection Prevention
