Job Summary:

The Residential Coordinator for Upperclassmen Communities manages the upperclassmen residence halls and residential advisor staff. They are primarily responsible for supporting individual residents, overseeing community programming, serving in an after-hours on-call emergency rotation, and completing duties as assigned for the Office of Residence Life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a thriving residential community by managing the daily functions of two apartment-style residence halls, housing approximately 400 students.
  • Directly supervise approximately 11 Residential Advisors (RAs).
  • Identify and respond to the needs of students in cooperation with the Residence Life team, other Student Affairs and College staff, and MICA faculty.
  • Develop effective advising and mentoring relationships with upperclassmen community residents, graduate students, and specifically sophomore residents regarding academic success, social networking, identity, and physical and emotional health; refer students to additional services as needed.
  • Implement an intentional and holistic programming model to provide educational, social, cultural, professional, and personal growth opportunities for students; manage the related planning and budget for events.
  • Serve as a conduct officer by upholding and interpreting the rights and responsibilities of students through consistent and fair enforcement.
  • Support special interest communities that are designed to augment the educational experience of residents.
  • Promote student interest and involvement in on-campus programs, student organizations, leadership development, and community outreach efforts.
  • Create and implement leadership workshops, professional development, and training for student staff, typically immediately prior to fall and spring semesters and throughout the year.
  • At the direction of the Assistant Director for Central Operations, assist in the opening and closing of residence halls, key distribution, room changes, and other administrative processes.
  • Collaborate with the Residence Life team to coordinate the selection and ongoing evaluation of RAs, and coordinate celebration and recognition end-of-year events.
  • Assist with housing selection, winter and summer housing & conferences, departmental programming initiatives, assessment, planning, and execution and other related major office functions.
  • Serve on various on-campus divisional and departmental committees, such as assessment committee, student leadership recognition committee, retention committees, and the student selection committee.
  • Support major campus programs, such as Orientation, Family Weekend, and student leadership initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Proficient with Google Workspace.
  • Active listening & real-time problem-solving.
  • Project & time management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a Student Personnel or related field.
  • Prior experience working in higher education, particularly in residence life, student engagement, or student leadership.
  • Sensitivity & inclination towards working with diverse college students.
  • Appreciation for the visual arts.
  • PeopleSoft, StarRez, Asana, Google Workspace, Canva, & Maxient experience.
