Join the State of Michigan team as a Medical Record Examiner and play a vital role in maintaining accurate and secure health records for prisoners. As a Medical Record Examiner, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state statutes, as well as departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain prisoner health records in accordance with federal and state statutes and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist with documenting diagnosis codes on prisoner records.
  • Maintain health care databases.
  • Perform continuous quality improvement activities and reports.
  • Coordinate the distribution of health record information.
  • Process release of information requests.
  • Prepare hard copy health records for transfer and receive hard copy health records.
  • Train new health care employees on the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Coordinate and track specialty health care appointments.
Requirements:
  • Possession of an associate's degree in health information or medical record technology.
  • Certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator.
  • One to two years of experience in establishing, organizing, and maintaining medical record systems in accordance with department, national, and accreditation body standards.
