Job Overview

Position Title: Material Handler

Role Summary:

The Material Handler is essential in ensuring the efficient movement, organization, and delivery of materials and supplies within the production environment. This role involves assisting with the loading and unloading of transportation vehicles as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to supply workstations with necessary materials and to remove completed products from production lines.
  • Upon gaining familiarity with product lines and operational procedures, reviews daily schedules and pick lists to prioritize material handling tasks, ensuring timely delivery of accurate materials and supplies.
  • Handles various materials including pallets, boxes, cartridges, squeeze tubes, pails, and drums.
  • Collaborates with the Packaging Supervisor to maintain production accuracy.
  • Employs an ERP scanning device throughout the shift to track items, products, and materials, ensuring proper assignment to their designated locations during movement.
  • Responsible for relocating finished products and unused materials to appropriate storage areas.
  • Participates in waste management and other material handling tasks as needed.
  • Assists in the loading and unloading of transportation vehicles and the placement of materials across multiple storage facilities.
  • May occasionally support machine operators with disassembly, cleaning, or loading tasks.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with fellow Material Handlers to coordinate the delivery of required products across different facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in material handling, loading/unloading vehicles, or shipping and receiving operations.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Experience operating powered industrial trucks (forklifts) is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly lifts and moves items weighing up to 30 lbs; occasionally handles up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Frequently navigates within the department and across the facility.
  • Engages in tasks that require positioning around finished products for counting, checking, and verifying.
  • Regularly climbs on and off of tow motors throughout the shift.
