Key Responsibilities

  1. Operate various mechanical farming machinery utilized in agricultural production, including tractors, sod harvesters, combines, and irrigation systems.
  2. Utilize towed equipment such as seed drills or manure spreaders for planting, fertilizing, and spraying fields.
  3. Conduct inspections and maintenance on equipment, vehicles, buildings, and facilities.
  4. Adjust, repair, and service agricultural machinery, notifying supervisors of any malfunctions.
  5. Mix specified materials and load them into planting or spraying machinery.
  6. Engage in construction and maintenance projects as needed.
  7. May provide training for new employees or take on lead worker responsibilities.
  8. Perform additional tasks related to agricultural harvesting as directed by the Farm Supervisor.

Work Environment

This role involves significant exposure to outdoor conditions, including direct sunlight and varying weather. Employees may encounter fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment can be quite loud.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position require the ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as necessary. Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. A full range of motion and good manual dexterity are essential for this role.

Typical Work Hours

This is a full-time position, with work hours subject to change at the discretion of the Farm Manager. Typical hours are Monday through Friday:

Winter & Fall: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Spring & Summer: 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM

Travel Requirements

This position requires minimal travel.

Required Experience and Education

  1. A minimum of 2 years of experience operating farm equipment and/or heavy machinery.
  2. Ability to work in a safety-conscious environment.
  3. Bilingual skills are a plus but not mandatory.
  4. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  5. Pre-employment drug screening is required.
