Job Overview: An examination is being conducted to establish a list of candidates for an administrative position within the Jefferson Protection and Animal Welfare Service. This role is essential for maintaining efficient operations and supporting the department's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine clerical tasks to facilitate the smooth functioning of the assigned unit.
- Receive, categorize, and maintain records, reports, logs, and other essential documentation.
- Utilize a two-way radio to communicate with Humane Officers, ensuring awareness of their locations.
- Input animal-related data into PetPoint and AS400 systems.
- Draft written warnings for animal control infractions, court summons for cruelty cases, and permits issued by JPAWS.
- Compile report summaries for cases to assist the Humane Officer in preparing files for legal proceedings.
- Organize both digital and physical files in preparation for court hearings.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned, maintaining readiness for emergency situations.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Current employment with permanent civil service status in a clerical role within Jefferson Parish.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of six months of diverse clerical experience.
- Completion of vocational training or an Associate's degree in office administration or a related discipline.
Examination Process: The selection process may include a written examination, evaluation of training and experience, an oral interview, or a combination of these methods. Candidates will be informed about the details of the testing process.
