Job Summary

Oversee the operational needs of the Environmental Services department at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children. Coordinate tasks, ensure staff training, and schedule staff to meet facility needs while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage labor and non-labor departmental budgets.
  • Establish and review standards and work procedures for all departments.
  • Plan work schedules, hours, and job duties to ensure adequate services.
  • Interview, select, hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of facility department personnel.
  • Orient, train, and supervise supervisory staff.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute new-hire initial training and department safety training.
  • Regularly inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the facility.
  • Provide monthly administrative progress reports.
  • Supervise the relocation and storage of furnishings and equipment.
  • Report unsafe conditions and conduct research to improve EVS technology.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate with other departments.
  • Collect supervision rounds forms and supervision team meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate and compile results of special QA and Infection Control monitoring instrument programs.
  • Present materials at Infection Control/QA meetings.
  • May serve on facility-wide committees.
  • Schedule major project work and conduct regular inventory of EVS supplies.
  • Maintain and support facility goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate all outside services relative to the EVS department.
Requirements
  • Associates' degree preferably.
  • 3 years of experience in a related field required.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience in environmental service or service-related field with high customer/client contact required.
  • Demonstrated progressive growth in the field of health care EVS facility maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
  • Ability to use knowledge of working environment to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred.
