Job Summary

This is a responsible clerical position that requires a qualified typist to perform various administrative tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining fiscal and related records, as well as performing related work as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend to attendance clerk duties, including meeting and screening visitors, answering telephone calls, and processing mail.
  • Maintain manual and computer registers, attendance and grade records, and reports.
  • Register students, verify data, answer questions, type schedules, and prepare records.
  • Sign students in and out, write student passes, and process withdrawing students.
  • Prepare attendance records and student information for data entry.
  • Type letters, memos, reports, bulletins, schedules, student files, and records.
  • Process and distribute mail, set up and maintain office filing systems, and assist with collection of student fees.
  • Post attendance and student records to computer and perform related tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Some knowledge of school system routine and procedures.
  • Some knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods, and procedures.
  • General knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Thorough knowledge of personnel and payroll procedures, financial record keeping, and banking procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and organize and perform work independently.
  • Ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed.
  • Ability to meet the public effectively.
Physical Requirements

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires stooping, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and fingering. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities.

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
