Job Summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Operative Preparation
    • Prepare the operating room for each procedure, including setting up equipment and supplies.
    • Ensure the availability of necessary instruments, suture, and other materials.
  • Assisting Surgeons
    • Anticipate and meet the needs of surgeons during procedures.
    • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons as needed.
  • Patient Care
    • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
    • Assist with patient positioning and transportation.
  • Environmental Safety
    • Ensure the operating room is maintained in a clean and safe environment.
    • Report any equipment or supply issues to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
  • Certifications
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Basic computer proficiency.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds over the head.
    • Ability to carry up to 40 pounds a reasonable distance.
  • Environmental Hazards
    • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids.
