Job Description:


  • Prefer 26-week contract, but not required.
  • Work in a Level 2 Trauma Center with 411 beds.
  • Surgical patient types include Bariatric, Vascular Surgeries, Urology, General/GI, Ortho, ENT, Plastics, and Neurosurgery.
  • Medical overflow includes conditions such as CHF, Pneumonia, COVID, COPD, Sepsis, Cellulitis, GI Bleed, and others.
  • Bedside telemetry monitoring capabilities for all patients.
  • Patient ratios: RN Day: 1:45, Night: 1:56; CNA Day: 1:8/10, Night: 1:10.
  • Required skills for RN include charge experience, telemetry experience, knowledge in vascular surgery, ortho postop, peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, Trach Care, Chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management, Heparin Drips, and Insulin Drips.
  • CNA responsibilities include postop vital signs, glucose checks, use of assistive devices, ambulation, documenting intake/output, providing ADLs, and meal assistance.
  • Collaborative team environment with support from CNAs, charge nurse, floating resource nurse, RT, PT, OT, ST, and Hospitalist/Surgeon PA.
  • Use of EMR system Cerner, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing.
  • Opportunities to float to other units within or below the scope of practice.
  • Two days of orientation and one 12-hour shift on unit.
  • Flexibility required for weekend rotations and holiday scheduling.
  • Professional scrub attire required.
