Nurse Educator Job Description

Samaritan Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Educator to join our Education department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in planning, developing, and delivering educational programs to new and existing nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive orientation programs for new nursing staff.
  • Design and deliver educational content for nurse residency programs, ensuring a smooth transition for newly graduated nurses.
  • Collaborate with nursing directors and education staff to create and maintain nursing skills training programs.
  • Teach certification classes for healthcare providers, including ACLS, ACLS-OB, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and ENPC.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop training programs to address skill gaps and improve nursing practice.
  • Participate in the Education Taskforce to identify, develop, and deliver education for staff development.
  • Support nursing directors in implementing improvement plans for nursing staff members with skill deficiencies.
  • Develop and coordinate other nursing and patient-related educational programs as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor's Degree in nursing required, Master's degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse license.
  • CPR and ACLS/PALS instructor status preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in acute care within the previous 7 years.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in conducting nursing education.

  • Possesses working knowledge of training methodologies and practices.
  • Demonstrates competent training skills in a variety of settings.
  • Conceives and structures training programs and develops training materials.
  • Coordinates educational events efficiently and effectively.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
  • Occasional or prolonged standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity, light physical effort, ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Good reading eyesight and visual acuity.
