Objective: To enhance the operational efficiency of the Park District by assisting in the planning and execution of construction projects, while overseeing the scheduling and improvement of maintenance tasks.
Classification: Full-time, exempt, salaried position
Salary Range: Pay Grade 8 - $46,675 - $65,012
Retirement Benefits: Contributions to the Public Employees Retirement System by both employer and employee.
Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Manager of Self-Performed Construction

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and capital planning software, including data management, report generation, and work request oversight.
- Conduct assessments of building and site conditions to create deficiency lists and update maintenance management systems.
- Regularly monitor and update Facility Condition Index scores, focusing on minimizing deferred maintenance.
- Collaborate with staff and project managers to generate and analyze reports aimed at continuous improvement.
- Assist in the development and management of the Park Improvement Plan.
- Maintain professional relationships with municipalities, research organizations, equipment manufacturers, and industry associations regarding maintenance management and long-term planning.
- Provide training on the maintenance management system for staff and volunteers.
- Support procurement processes for project materials, including research, estimation, bidding, and delivery coordination.
- Assist in negotiations regarding project scopes, fees, and contracts with consultants and vendors.
- Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and contractors, promoting adherence to agreements and contracts.
- Engage in annual capital improvement planning and maintenance budgeting, forecasting capital renewal expenses.
- Review specifications for capital and major maintenance projects to ensure cost-effectiveness and maintenance considerations.
- Develop and maintain a standards guide for specifying materials used in construction and amenities.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of capital assets.
- Collaborate with Park Operations staff and contractors to maintain accurate system data.
- Participate in all construction closeout inspections, entering relevant capital renewal and preventative maintenance data into appropriate systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Park District.
Equipment Utilized: Various office equipment, GPS devices, digital cameras, recording tools, printers, and computing devices, including Microsoft Office Suite, Cityworks, and Esri ArcGIS Online.
Minimum Qualifications:
Alternatives to the following qualifications may be considered as deemed appropriate by Metroparks.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Services, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Moderate experience in process management, long-term planning, and scheduling; familiarity with construction project management and maintenance management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of construction and maintenance project management practices.
- Ability to research construction materials and installation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
- Analytical skills for interpreting various documents and managing data.
- Familiarity with database management and Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
