Job Title: General Manager - Dairy Farm

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a large dairy farm in Colorado.

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain best management practices for the dairy operation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, creamery, and ownership requirements.
  • Oversee all elements of the dairy operation, including shop oversight, facility maintenance, and total herd health care.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), employee training programs, and quality control measures.
  • Write job descriptions, develop a balanced organizational structure, and maintain complete, consistent, and clear herd records.
  • Develop a productive and safe working environment, including hiring, firing, discipline, and documentation of employees.
  • Manage employee scheduling, bi-annual team member performance and wage reviews, and participate in regular management meetings with the Managing Partner.
  • Monitor and maintain total compost bedding management, parlor protocols, efficiency, and maintenance.
  • Generate, provide, and review monthly dairy performance reports with the Managing Partner, and review and monitor monthly P&L and expenses to improve the bottom-line.
  • Work with local, state, or federal agencies/inspectors related to the dairy operation, and perform other tasks as defined by the Managing Partner.

Requirements:

  • A 4-year degree in an agricultural-related field with 3-5 years of dairy management experience on a 1500+ cow operation, or 10+ years of dairy management experience on a 1500+ cow operation.
  • Ability and desire to be a working General Manager who can step in alongside the dairy's team members or fill in where/when necessary to train and/or complete the day-to-day work.
  • Experience developing and maintaining a healthy farm culture, which makes the dairy a place where team members feel valued and supported.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively and maintain full transparency with the Managing Partner.
  • Agricultural Spanish, at a minimum, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
