Kaiser Permanente is in search of a Surgical Technologist Level I to join our dedicated team.

Position Overview

Role Summary:
In this position, you will work under close supervision, assisting during surgical procedures as a vital member of the surgical team. Your responsibilities will include preparing and organizing the operating room prior to surgeries, selecting and passing instruments during procedures, and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with established protocols. You will also provide support for patient care during and after surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the surgeon during operations by passing instruments and supplies as instructed, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques.
  • Prepare the surgical site by draping the patient appropriately.
  • Support the surgical team by retracting tissues and assisting in hemostasis under the surgeon's guidance.
  • Participate in sponge and instrument counts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Prepare sutures for closing surgical incisions and apply dressings as directed.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly, following established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized surgical field, anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
  • Assist in the transportation of patients and the handling of surgical specimens.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and handling of surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the surgical team.
Qualifications:

Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room or equivalent military experience in a scrub role within the last two years, or recent completion of an operating room training program.

Education:
N/A

Licensure and Certification:
Must obtain a Surgical Technologist Certificate within six months of hire from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or the National Center for Competency Testing.

Additional Skills:
Ability to scrub for various surgical cases, excluding open heart procedures.
