Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and establish safe working environments, implementing environmental protection strategies and compliance methods to meet EHS objectives.
  • Conduct investigations into incidents related to environmental health and safety, loss control, and insurance risks.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective EHS programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Serve as the site lead for ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, assisting with audits and goal setting.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of facility equipment and associated risks, including machine safety and hazardous materials.
  • Engage in industrial hygiene activities such as air sampling and noise assessments.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and management on EHS matters.
  • Assist in risk management initiatives and maintain records for worker's compensation and loss control assessments.
  • Lead the Employee Safety Committee and mentor employees on EHS practices.
  • Collaborate with local fire departments on fire protection and permitting issues.
  • Oversee the site Medical First Responder Team and ensure training compliance.
  • Manage safety data sheets and HAZCOM programs.
  • Review new equipment and facility modifications for safety compliance.
  • Maintain organized recordkeeping systems for EHS documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste management and prepare regulatory reports.
  • Participate in emergency response actions and lead the Spill Response Team.
  • Coordinate with vendors on EHS issues and contractor safety.
  • Stay updated on local and state regulations and develop compliance programs accordingly.
  • Attend training sessions to maintain proficiency in EHS areas.
  • Develop and instruct EHS training programs to enhance employee understanding of regulations.
  • Prepare cost estimates and purchase orders for EHS projects.
  • Support customer inquiries regarding product safety and compliance.
  • Manage environmental and safety permits for facility processes.
  • Conduct inspections and prepare reports related to stormwater and SPCC.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to EHS reporting.
  • Report hazardous conditions to supervisors promptly.
  • Uphold safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Work independently and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA regulations, with experience in industrial processes.
  • Familiarity with safety inspections, machine safety protocols, and various EHS reporting.
  • Understanding of environmental management systems and ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of EPA programs related to waste management and water sampling.
  • Proficiency in maintaining OSHA logs and workers' compensation programs.
  • Experience with corrective action processes and engineering drawings.
  • Background in Lean & Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical EHS field such as Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, or Industrial Hygiene.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in environmental and safety roles, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and safety regulations.

Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as ASP/CSP, IHIT/CIH, or OSHA certifications are desirable.
  • First Responder qualification in CPR/First Aid/AED is preferred.
