Position Overview

The North Carolina A&T State University is actively seeking a dedicated Part-Time Instructor for its burgeoning Physician Assistant (PA) Program. This role encompasses teaching, research, advising, and various responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.

Key Responsibilities

The part-time faculty member will play a crucial role in curriculum development, instruction, and course coordination during both the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the formulation of the didactic and clinical year curriculum.
• Supporting assessment tools and facilitating data-driven curricular adjustments as necessary.
• Aiding student learning activities to meet the program's academic competency standards.
• Coordinating assessment and evaluation processes, ensuring timely communication of feedback and action plans.
• Guiding student orientation and upholding policies related to the preclinical and clinical years.
• Maintaining records of student performance and program competencies.
• Ensuring compliance with ARC-PA standards in curriculum development.
• Collaborating closely with the Program Director to ensure accurate program reporting.
• Undertaking additional duties as delegated by the PA Program Director.

Administrative Duties (40%)

• Engaging in activities to prepare for ARC-PA accreditation.
• Participating in the admissions process, including file reviews and interviews.
• Recruiting clinical sites and managing preceptor agreements.
• Attending faculty and curriculum meetings regularly.
• Participating in program events such as orientations and ceremonies.

Teaching Responsibilities (40%)

• Developing syllabi for assigned courses.
• Creating curriculum, delivering instruction, and developing assessments.
• Coordinating instructional efforts and modeling professionalism.

Research Involvement (20%)

• Engaging in scholarly activities and participating in national PA organizations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's Degree (Doctorate preferred).
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and evaluate competitive applicants.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Proven program planning and management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited PA program.
  • Eligibility for PA licensure in North Carolina.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in PA education.
  • 5+ years of clinical practice as a PA.
